Chávez to present at conference on arts and healing

"Vivian Chávez, associate professor of Public Health, will present a workshop at the 4th Annual Conference on Creativity & the Arts in Healing, sponsored by UCLArts & Healing in partnership with Expressive Therapies Summit. The meeting features more than 150 workshops delivered by leading national experts in art, dance/movement, drama, drumming/music, play/sandplay and writing/journaling integrated with mental health practices. Her workshop, “Cultural Humility from the Inside Out: Addressing Bias Through the Expressive Arts,” which will be held April 15, 6-8 p.m., introduces verbal and nonverbal communication skills to counteract hierarchical dynamics that separate people from one another."
