Julie Gardner
A double alumna of the SF State Public Health program and former Health Promotion & Wellness staff member, Julie considers SFSU a second home. Julie has been a public health practitioner for over 13 years, leveraging a school-based health model to address health disparities. After five years of working to advance individual, community and policy level health initiatives for middle school through college aged populations, she transitioned her efforts towards addressing the wide reaching impacts of Bay Area food and housing insecurity, including spearheading the launch of SF State's inaugural Food+Shleter+Success program. Julie currently serves as the Director for SparkPoint at College of San Mateo, an economic mobility center that works to disrupt poverty by providing financial empowerment education, food and housing support, and leadership opportunities for historically underserved students.
Julie earned a Bachelors of Science in Health Education and a Masters of Public Health from San Francisco State University. In her off time she enjoys grabbing a coffee and exploring San Francisco on foot in search of new stair sets, parks, neighborhoods and hikes.
