Wolin discusses policy implications of preterm birth innovation project

"Jessica Wolin, associate director for community practice at the Health Equity Institute and clinical faculty in the Department of Health Education, discussed the Benioff Community Innovation Project and its policy implications at the UCSF Preterm Birth Initiative Annual Symposium on Preterm Birth, held Nov. 15-17 in San Francisco.

The project aims to engage and build the knowledge of the inaugural cohort of Benioff Community Innovators — 10 women from San Francisco who are teamed up with SF State MPH students to explore programmatic and policy solutions that focus on the link between poor housing conditions and preterm birth. The students and innovators are using creative and traditional research methods to raise the voices of women and gather perspectives from service providers, agency staff and policy makers. Their largely qualitative research will promote healthy birth outcomes for women in San Francisco."
