Wolin honored as HOPE SF Equity Champion
"Jessica Wolin, lecturer in health education and associate director of community practice for Health Equity Institute, will be honored by the San Francisco Foundation and the City of San Francisco for her work with HOPE SF. Wolin will receive the Equity Champion award at the 2017 HOPE SF Visionary Awards luncheon, an event organized by the San Francisco Foundation to be held on Dec. 8.
The award notification letter stated, “Through your years of service to the goals, lessons and imperative of HOPE SF, you have earned the admiration and respect for your loving honesty, critical and creative insights, and relentless calls for equity for our communities.”
The HOPE SF initiative seeks to transform four of San Francisco’s most distressed public housing sites into vibrant, thriving communities through holistic revitalization. Between 2011 and Fall 2017, Wolin has led a team of SF State staff and students who have partnered with HOPE SF on the development and evaluation of strategies to support and the health and well-being on residents living in the four HOPE SF sites. Her team and more than 100 graduate students have conducted five community assessments to inform strategy development for the initiative."
