Mamo Receives Grant to Study Precision Public Health and Cancer Prevention

"Laura Mamo, Health Equity Institute professor of health education, has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation’s Science, Technology and Society Program of the Division of Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences. The three-year award will fund her research, “Studying Precision Public Health and Cancer Prevention.” The project seeks to understand how shifting paradigms of HPV-related cancer prevention, from Pap-Smear technology to DNA testing and vaccination, create new categories of high-risk people and new targets of risk reduction. The study’s goal is contribute to policies and practices designed to impact cancer health inequities."
